Friday September 26

Thanks for reading my blog! It is fun to open up my account and see your comments and messages.

A few weeks ago I was full of fear and anxiety. Little by little it has been getting better. I felt a lot more peaceful yesterday, knowing that I have decided on a course of treatment and I have a lot of support from friends and family to help me when I feel sick. I like to be up around and doing things, so I have tried to be as independent as possible in the past. At this time, however, I feel like God wants me to learn to rely on others and allow them to give service and comfort to me during my illness.

My parents will be going home to California this weekend. They have been taking me to my appointments, organizing my house, cooking dinner, and watching my boys after school. They are planning to return when I have my next chemotherapy treatment, two weeks from Wednesday.

Today I woke up with a lot of pain in my back. I had the same problem yesterday. Ironically, I just went to meet with the pain management Dr. yesterday afternoon. Sometimes I feel like I get the pain under control in one area and then it flares back up somethere else! So far, since my treatment on Wed., I'm not nauseated, just queasy.

Good news! I was sitting down to dinner last night and the phone rang. Caller ID indicated it was my new clinic - Utah Cancer Specialists - in Salt Lake. I was quite amazed to hear the voice of my new doctor on the line. He was calling to personally check on me and make sure I was not having any bad reactions to the chemotherapy. I am happy that I switched doctors and I am really glad to have Dr. Shehadeh because I think he really cares.

How nice the doctor called you personally. I love the pictures on the facebook page. The one of the 3boys together makes them look like they love being with each other all the time. ;-)

I am a friend of Louise's. She was asking me questions about my cancer treatment last year. My name is Rayette. Can Louise give me your parents phone number so I can contact you? I had an easier kind to deal with but many of my experiences were still the same and I was wondering if you would like to talk.

I'm off to fight for Prop 8 this morning. You and your family will be in my heart. Your eternal family is an example to everyone of how the Lord intended us to raise our families. With a father and a mother who love one another and teach their children correct principles...raising them to go out into the world as healthy and strong leaders to raise families of their own.

The boys must be home this weekend, and probably David too. I wish you all peace, love, and strength as you pull together to help Emilee through this.

A scripture came to mind for you this morning that has been in my heart this week. 1 Corinthians 13

The summary says Paul extols the high status of charity -- Charity, a pure love, exels and exceeds almost all else. This scripture is often quoted using Love as a translation for Charity becuase Charity is the pure love of Christ. Only through the pure love of Christ can we understand the full meaning of life and why we must endure all things. May you keep your heart filled with Charity so that you can feel the redeeming love of the Savior.

Love is patient, love is kind, read this chapter and may your heart be filled with love.

Make a happy memory this weekend!

I enjoy your blog so much, Emilee. The boys were great yesterday -- so much fun to be with them. I hope you are feeling better today. Thank you for letting me know of some of your favorites (food and books).

I'll see you tomorrow -- we'll have fun in addition to seeing the doctor!

Love, Elaine
